our team
creative team

lee whittingham - creative director

We have a fantastic creative team, fusing together different strengths to create inspiring, distinctive branding and design concepts. I have always had a passion for branding in particular and love nothing more than getting under the skin of a client's organisation and creating and building a brand that outwardly communicates all its values and aims effectively.

I’m a strong believer in ‘a brand is one of a company's most critical assets’ and getting that right is so important to us. Our reputation has grown almost entirely through repeat business, word of mouth and the strength of our portfolio and nearly all of our clients are long term engagements.

Working with our creative team I’m lucky enough to work every day on something I love to do.

neil ramsbottom - senior creative

I like to start each and every day with a really crisp, close shave as I feel it really sets me up for the many and varied challenges that lie ahead during any given day here at Wilson Cooke. Most people will be unaware of this routine as my stubble grows at a quite alarming rate! Being a 'leftie' I enjoy the opportunities we get to be creative and constantly aim to make each piece better than the last one.

Neil can usually be found munching on pistachio nuts of an evening.

Favourite things: I love the work and attitude to design and creativity of Mark Farrow, Stefan Sagmeister, Tyler Brûlé, Jamie Hewlett, James Jarvis and Frank Miller...

neil

lance corrigan - creative

I first gained a passion for design at the tender age of one, creating crayon-based compositions on my parent's living room walls. After discovering other mediums on which to represent my work and gaining vast amounts of experience within the industry, I am now able to take my seat amongst the other great creatives at
Wilson Cooke.

Lance has traded his crayons for a nice new Mac Pro.

Favourite things: I enjoy spending time with my family, walking the dog, listening to music and playing either the guitar or piano..

lance

jake johnstone - creative

I began my professional life as a rugby league player - which naturally developed into a career in graphic design. I love the challenge of problem solving, and it's great to work in a creative environment. I would list Vince Frost, Johnson Banks and Don Draper as my influences.

Interesting fact: I have also been known to impress friends at cocktail parties by ripping the Yellow Pages in half.

Favourite things: I enjoy blowing hundreds of pounds on collectable posters and rare screenprints.

jake

steve haddican - designer/artworker

I do my bit for the planet: recycling, reducing waste, saving water/electricity etc, so don't blame all this recent flooding on me! I like to chill out by cooking a nice meal, whilst listening to music and supping a glass of red wine.

A good walk by the sea, with a pint of beer at the end . . . priceless.

Steve or "Tadge" has he is known in the studio is famous for his world class brews.

Favourite things: Happiness, Food, The Wife (she’s bound to have a look at this)

tadge

steve stoddart - designer/artworker

My Favourite things, spending time with the family, reading, cycling, basketball, music (Zeppelin - that kind of thing, just to annoy the kids!), most sports - except horseracing and boxing. Keeping a clean carbon (fibre) footprint by cycling to work, all chocolate, coffee.

Steve or "nobby" has been with wilson.cooke since 1998 and can usually be found knocked off his racing bicycle lying in a bed of nettles at the weekend.

Favourite things: Anne, my mum and dad, deep sea divers, Eddie Merckx, Sean Kelly, Steve Irwin

nobby

roger antonie - designer/artworker

Playing detective - researching dead Antonies (and anyone with the misfortune to be related), back to 1750 so far and not an Italian ice cream seller in sight. Motorcycling - but waiting for an almost completed 1959 Norton 500 Dominator to finish restoring itself, and for a Gilera scooter to repair itself.

Roger is part of the furniture and has been involved with wilson.cooke from it's inception in the early 1990

Favourite things: My 1959 Norton 500 Dominator

web design team

john millington - operations director

With the ever constant advancement of technologies the web is an amazingly fast moving environment to work within, to see how much things have changed you only have to look back at the net usage of a few years ago to see just how important the internet is to everyone. Striving to find emerging markets for our clients within the industry is a constant challenge.

Making sure we stay ahead of the game is a top priority, thankfully we have a wealth of different skills at our disposal within each of our departments, this ensures that we deliver time after time no matter how involved or complex the project, as most of our work comes via referrals this has to say something about the quality of work we produce.

antony wilcock - web/new media manager

A prerequisite to having a degree in fine art is an understanding that computers are the work of the devil - like artificial sweeteners, microwave ovens and reality TV shows. However it's impossible to design using felt-tip pens forever...

Thankfully I overcame this fear, and my role at wilson cooke sees me involved in projects across all types of media - using cutting edge technologies. I am constantly learning new things and every day brings fresh challenges.

My least favourite phrase is "Can you jazz it up a bit?"

Our own "MiniVin" has been with us for almost nine years and usually has a video camera attached to his left eye.

Favourite things: I particularly like things which shouldn't work but do, unrecognised heroes and oxymorons.

ant

After qualifying in graphic design I worked for several years in design and illustration before being seduced by the dark side - the Internet. I now enjoy working on websites and Flash animations.

Chris is our resident Liverpudlian of five years, his specialist talents are for advanced CSS coding and HTML.

Favourite things: my aunty cilla and uncle tarby.

chris

simon whiston - web designer

I have always been interested in computer technology whether it be computer hardware components or computer software, in other words I like all things Tech!

As my passion for Information Technology grew, my career naturally progressed into the web technology sector covering key elements of the industry - Search Engine Optimisation, Design and Development.

Outside of the office I like to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life and venture into the rural countryside on my mountain bike.

Favourite things: Cardiovascular exercise, cross country mountain biking, computer hardware – anything techie

mark law - development manager

I originally come from Rotherham and have been living in Salford now for about 4 1/2 years, classic story of following a girl (who is now my wife) but I'm clinging to my Yorkshire roots much to her dismay!

I come from a web development background and have work for a few agencies in Sheffield, Liverpool and Hale during the past 5 years or so.

After spending the last 8 months working in a client services role for a software company I am really excited about moving back to an agency and getting back to where my strengths lie.

Favourite things: In my spare time I love spending time with my family and have a very active 1 year old daughter who keeps my wife and I very busy. I am a mad Ice Hockey fan and have been watching it for 19 years and playing for about 14. Also into most other sports in particular Football and am still waiting on that elusive premiership title for Liverpool, next season maybe...

geoffrey viljoen - senior developer

I've been programming since I got a Commodore 64 when I was a kid and I've been using computers ever since. As a programmer I never stop thinking about ways to improve code even when I'm not programming. If you catch me at the pub with a vacant stare I'm probably turning a coding problem over in my head.

As an aside, I'm definitely not as boring as this description sounds, honest!

Allergies: Bananas.

Likes: Tidy code, Bananas, Spaced, Bill Bailey.

Dislikes: Messy code.

geoff

kevin williams - commercial developer

I got a little taste of programming at university; it was a pretty bad taste let me tell you! I decided to give it another crack in my own time and started to enjoy it more until eventually it brought me here.

The team here is great, very welcoming, and massively talented. I’m really in to my football and my main aim at the company is to finish top in the fantasy league (this doesn’t look good though!).

Kevin's a great asset to the dev team, even though he supports Bolton Wanderers.

Favourite things: My Bolton Wanderers cup with my name on it. Blame my mum, she bought it me for Christmas.

matt cockayne - developer

With all my time divided between work and my little family, its hard work to think up witty and intelligent remarks about myself. Suffice to say that I was never afraid of hard work.

I’m enthusiastic about new concepts and Ideas and love putting my skills to the test. I’m told I have a penchant for decipherable code, “more comment than code” has been said about me more than once. Let’s hope I never prove anyone wrong.

matt

paul mccann - systems administrator

After six years working with the internet I have much experience in both design and development, now its my chance to get some server level knowledge as well. I’m a dedicated, ambitious person with a desire to be successful. I enjoy going to concerts and festivals, playing guitar and watching football in between spending much of my time with girlfriend and her two year old monster disguised as a princess.

Favourite things: My Gibson Les Paul Guitar, Manchester United and Gummy Bears

paul

matt taylor - developer

In my work life I put an emphasis on delivering quality first time round. I enjoy developing new systems and helping to improve legacy systems. However, after 5:30pm I like nothing more than leaving the geek part of me behind and letting my hair down (that is the hair I have left). Just be warned don’t let me near dance floors or you’ll see Sale’s answer to Bez.

Favourite things: Dancing Argentinean Tango, Manchester City, Eating good food, Laughing

matt taylor

craig winstanley - developer

I first took up programming back when I was a young'un in primary school, after fiddling with my PC because I couldn't get a game to work. From then on I was interested in how computers work and how they do what they do. I progressed to building little websites for friends then moved onto e-commerce and content management.

Likes: Fast cars.

Dislikes: Sunday Drivers.

My background is 7 years client side as E-Commerce Manager for the Co-operative Group. I was attracted to W&C as I have experienced firsthand that they really do go above and beyond to deliver solutions that clients are happy with.

As digital project manager it is my responsibility to ensure that online projects are delivered on time and to specification. Being extremely organised is key to this, and anyone that knows me outside of work will know that I probably have a plan or list for most things. Being a newlywed I am currently trying to find the most efficient way to Project Manage my husband!!!

In my spare time I enjoy relaxing at home, watching films (Anchorman rocks) and spending time with my friends and family.

With more years behind me than I like to remember working in account management and client service roles, I’ve been made really welcome as one of the newest members of the team.  My aim as Digital Project Manager is to continue the great work Wilson & Cooke already deliver by working to achieve and hopefully exceed client expectations.

Favourite things: Fun time with my son (& husband, so he doesn’t feel left out), the occasional day trip to a beauty spa and escaping as often as possible to our holiday home near Abersoch. You can’t beat long walks on the beach in winter when there’s no-one else daft enough to be there!!

I enjoy wine - by the glass or by the bottle, I’m not picky! Nights out with friends, 80’s films, music, swimming, shopping – the usual. I’m obsessed with pub quizzes and feel they’ve greatly improved my general knowledge over the past 5 years!! I hate loud eaters, mushrooms and beige. Despite what you might hear I do wear shoes.

Lucy has a great ability to break computers without touching them and walk barefoot around the office.

Favourite things: My three favourite things are V&T’s, Blondie and yellow midget gems.

kathryn raby - accounts

As one of the more recent recruits to Wilson & Cooke I already feel like part of the team, they are all so warm and welcoming here.  I love what I do, I’m one of those weird people who likes nothing better than getting stuck into a P&L and Balance Sheet, sad but true.

Favourite things: I enjoy shopping, eating out, sunny days, and treking across the moors in the middle of nowhere, and going on girly holidays with my daughter. I prefer animals to humans any day, and dogs are my favourite kind of people.
