BAE Systems website win for Wilson Cooke

Live.Work.Play
BAE Systems - Submarine Solutions

Bury based Wilson Cooke have been chosen by BAE Systems from a select group of North West creative digital agencies following a competitive pitch to create a new online presence and supporting offline and online marketing campaign.

The aim of the new website and supporting campaign is to increase the workforce to assist in the delivery of the Astute class of nuclear powered attack submarines at the BAE Systems site in Barrow by promoting the area, work culture and rewards.

Christian Elliott, BAE Systems Submarine Solutions’ HR and Communications director, said: “It’s a privilege to be in a position to be recruiting in such gloomy economic climates, so we see the new website as an important part of our drive to further recruit skilled and professional personnel over the coming year.

“It is vital those looking to relocate to south Cumbria have a clear picture of the considerable benefits of living in this area, and www.worklifebarrow.co.uk does this extremely well.

Nicole Whittingham, Marketing Director at Wilson Cooke says "It was an exciting digital project to work on, a new campaign and website looking to increase employee numbers at a great company by up to 500. BAE Systems required a solution that they could fully manage from the outset to keep the site fresh and up to date, including adding in all the new vacancies. We are finding more and more that this approach is being taken by many organisations and our Content Management System that was built in-house by our programming team is both functional and easy to manage."

Lee Whittingham, creative director, says "Our first task was to create a campaign brand to cement all the different marketing activities together and summarise the message, our Live.Work.Play concept developed by our creative department was a winner from the start, being liked by all at BAE Systems. Following on from this we felt that using the real people from BAE Systems to promote what a great place it is to work was important, so we directed and commissioned a 3 day photoshoot to capture the Live.Work.Play aspect of Barrow."

"The website design itself we kept crisp and functional, dividing the site up into the 3 easy to navigate sectors from our brand design, Live.Work.Play. Following the site we designed a series of posters and banners to promote the site internally and bus shelter posters and billboards in and around the Barrow area for external marketing. For each of these activities we focused on the thoughts of existing BAE System team members."

The new website was launched on January 30th 2009, the site will be continually updated and enhanced throughout the year.
