Wilson Cooke has developed an iPhone app which could add a substantial amount to the bottom line of Preston-based Liquid Plastics, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high performance, technologically advanced coatings and membranes for the protection and waterproofing of roofs, walls and balconies. Liquid Plastics approached Wilson Cooke to help them develop a solution to streamline the specification process for their consultants on-site and provide a better service for their customers.
The result is an iPhone application designed to allow Liquid Plastics sales team members to take pictures and add notes via the iPhone whilst surveying a roof.
This enables them to create and upload a specification directly from the iPhone - the spec is stored locally on the phone and then can be sync’d at the users discretion. The app isn’t dependent on a constant connection and can work without a 3G or wireless connection.
When sync’d with the server, the online system automatically pulls through the logic and images and converts the data into a specification which can then be output as a complete PDF at the push of a button.
Liquid Plastic’s Technical Services Manager, Steve Cookson said that the new app will save a phenomenal amount of time and effort, “This streamlines and automates the whole process allowing the sales team to conduct more surveys without the need to create a specification manually on return to base. It also allows for a far quicker turnaround of quotes - instead of it taking a few days, a quote can be created and sent to the customer within the hour even if the sales consultants are out of the office.”
